Welcome
The Severn Valley Railway is now fully operational after the flood damage of 2007 At last on Thursday 20th March 2008, the Re-Opening train arrived at Arley from Kidderminster carrying VIP's and senior members of the Severn Valley Railway. On the following day, Good Friday, the first public passenger train ran through Arley. After 9 months of hard work since the flood damage last June the Easter Weekend marked the return of normal services between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. Now we are back to normal and please see our Events Page to see the forthcoming events happening on the Severn Valley Railway and Arley Station. As many of you will know, the Severn Valley Railway suffered badly last year when 2 weeks worth of rain fell all along the line in only 30 minutes on Tuesday 19th June. This caused serious damage to the Railway in around 45 different places, the Repair work incurred is estimated to cost over 2.5 million pounds. However now all of the major contract engineering work is complete and the full length of the line is operational. The Severn Valley Railway is 16 miles long and runs between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth with six stations at; Kidderminster, Bewdley, Arley, Highley, Hampton Loade and Bridgnorth, there are also 2 request halts. Also new this year is the Engine House which is situated at highley and has a collection of Severn Valley Railway Locomotives on display along with many displays about the Severn Valley Railway, and is well worth a visit. Arley Station is between Bewdley and Highley and is open every weekend and midweek in the summer whenever the trains are running. We have a Booking office where tickets can be purchased from, a kiosk which is open most weekends selling homemade cakes, sandwiches and more and also the Shop which is also open most weekends selling soueviners, railway books and childrens toys. Also there is the beautiful gardens with a picnic area to sit and enjoy the trains go through.
